My name is Mark McDevitt. I am a WGA screenwriter, author, creative writing teacher and independent editor. I specialize in memoir, personal essays and fact-based stories. If you’ve got a story to tell, and need help telling it, I’d love to work with you.

I’m currently available for consulting engagements.

After graduating from University College Dublin in Ireland, I moved to the U.S. in 1994 to pursue my dream of working in the movies. For about 15 years, I worked as a cameraman, and later on as a producer and editor. Over time, I became more interested in writing — the actual words on the page —as the source of all good stories.

Since 2010, I have been a professional screenwriter and proud member of the Writers Guild of America. I’ve sold two feature film scripts, and been hired to work on others, while also contributing to a number of publications including The New York Times, The Irish Independent and The Examiner.

Today, I consult on a variety of different book and film projects, and teach creative writing with the firm belief that inside every person is a natural-born storyteller, waiting to be released.

I’m also writing a historical novel about the early days of investigative journalism, set in New York around the turn of the century.
